Lambd Epsilon Chapter at the University of Central Florida recognized as one of the Nation's elite chapters

For the first time in its history, the Lambda-Epsilon chapter at UCF received the fraternity’s Founders Circle award, the highest award any Kappa Sigma chapter can receive. Only 8 out of 314 chapters nationwide also received this award. For a chapter that had reorganized in 2010, the evening reflected the culmination of hard work over the past four years.

Additional awards the chapter won included the Outstanding Single Community Service Event (Chrismakkuh-Benefitting Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Florida), Top 25 Recruiting Chapter, Chapter Intramural Achievement Award, as well as individual awards. Brandon Schwab received the Outstanding Grand Treasurer award and Dennis Hooper received the Outstanding Grand Master Award. Kappa Sigma also received its fifth Founders Award for Chapter Excellence (FACE).

A large part of this success was due to the dedication of many alumni, 2 of which also took home awards (Paul Gamble for Outstanding District Grand Master and Michael Lowe for Outstanding Alumnus Advisor).

“Our Alumni Advisor (Patrick Nurse) and District Grand Master (Paul Gamble) have been a tremendous help in working with the chapter to establish a plan of action in order to demonstrate continued success over the years,” says Alex Maillis, Grand Scribe of the Lambda-Epsilon chapter. “They have made receiving this award possible for us.”

Dennis Hooper, the recipient of the Outstanding Grand Master award and President of the Lambda Epsilon chapter, had some proud words to say about his fraternity:

"This has been a long journey. It started when I pledged in Fall 2011 when we just got back on campus. We set goals, stayed committed, and achieved more than we could imagine. It wasn’t easy, but the end result was the motivation to keep pushing. Winning the highest award that a Kappa Sigma chapter can receive was the best feeling to all of us, and we look to do it again next year. We never want to settle. We will always strive to be the best gentleman we can be.”

Kappa Sigma Fraternity is the most preferred college fraternity in the world with 17,500 members on 314 college campus throughout the United States and Canada and over 200,000 living alumni around the world. Annually, our undergraduate members donate more than $3 million and 1 million hours to charitable causes, pledge more than 9,000 men and welcome nearly 7,000 new initiates to the Order.
